Render DevOps secured $20M Series A led by Addition

Render, DevOps cloud platform, recently announced that it closed a $20 million Series A funding round. The current round was led by Addition along with the existing investors General Catalyst and South Park Commons. render devops 20m series octoberramaswamytechcrunch. The last raise for Render happened in October 2020, as a seed round for $4.5 million. With the current raise, the total funding of the startup sums up to $26.75 million.

The company plans on using the proceeds to triple its employee base. Currently, it employs 35 people. While they intend to increase the number with a focus on product and customer growth. Expanding its data center footprint globally to at least 10 new regions in the future is also on the card. The ultimate vision of Render is to improve latency, by launching for the first time in both APAC and EMEA. The blueprint of new features includes the plans to roll out a free plan for web services and databases which will eventually increase access to its product. Along with this, the company has plans to built-in DDoS protection for its customers.

Anurag Goel, the co-founder and CEO of Render said that most of the company’s customers use its platform for their entire cloud presence. Some of their prominent clients are online developer community Indie Hackers, Web3 platform NEAR as well as publicly traded Anker. As per Goel, some of its customers even host popular open-source projects like Elasticsearch, MySQL and MongoDB on Render. It is used as an alternative to expensive managed versions of these services as the offering of Render has simplified the process of managing such projects.

Render is competing with cloud providers like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. However, it is making a mark by offering a large suite of features at a competitive cost. Render’s platform provides access to modern features such as infrastructure-as-code, persistent storage and private networking.
